Dogs on trains

Are dogs ever allowed on commuter trains? By this I mean trips of 3 hours or less. What is the policy regarding this situation?

Thanks for the answer. I had looked in many areas of the AmTrac web site but did not find the answer. I was hoping that they would have a policy like the airlines that dogs in carriers would be allowed.

Official Amtrak policy is that only service animals (for the sight impaired) are allowed aboard Amtrak trains.

Hey, nice profile. I just was browsing around profiles and found yours. I just wanted to say hey!

Are you into model trains as well? I just started recently and have been learning a lot from the Model Train Help book. I'd love to chat about trains some time if you're interested.
